Maplewood Reformed Church, as a member of the Holland Classis of the Reformed Church in America, is led by a Consistory. The Consistory is made up of ministers, elders, and deacons, who together govern the life and ministry of the church. Visit the RCA website to learn more about what a consistory is and how it functions.
Rev. Dr. James Ellis III
Ordained in the Baptist tradition, Pastor James Ellis has degrees from nearby Western Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary, and the University of Maryland, where his bachelor's degree is in African American Studies. He was born in Japan and has lived in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, Texas, and Washington, DC, and British Columbia, Canada (north of Seattle) for four years. Having called Holland home before (2016-19), James returned in March of 2023 to join us. When not writing (his fourth book will be released soon), he is usually at the gym, napping, dabbling around as a photographer, or taking his wife, Renata, to get ice cream.
Pastor James can be reached at james@maplewoodrca.org.
